got a procedure done and told literally nobody, wanted to see who'd notice on their own π
I didn't tell anyone I was getting anything done. It wasn't really a secret or anything. I was just curious whether anyone would notice without me bringing it up first.
There was one area I'd been thinking about for a while, so I assumed that was going to be the thing I'd notice most afterward. In my head, even a small change would probably look huge because I'd been staring at it for so long.
Before doing anything, though, I went for a consultation and realized I was thinking about it the wrong way. I wasn't really looking to completely change one part of my face. I mostly wanted to look a little less tired.
I ended up getting a lifting treatment and kept everything pretty subtle. For the first few days I honestly couldn't tell if anything had changed. I kept checking the mirror and probably overanalyzing every little angle.
Then someone at work casually mentioned that I looked more rested than usual.
A friend said something similar a few days later.
Neither of them asked if I'd had anything done, which was actually kind of reassuring.
I think I would've been disappointed if everyone immediately noticed exactly what I'd changed. The fact that people just thought I looked a little different felt much more natural.
It also changed how I think about these treatments. I used to assume a good result meant being able to clearly see the difference.
Now I'm starting to think sometimes the best result is when people just think you look good and can't figure out why.
