Careful people, there is a bug in the reservation system affecting changes from Basic to Choice fares

Let me illustrate. I have a Basic DAL/DEN reservation for 3 people his week. The cost of that ticket is $693.37. I want to change that to a Choice fare in September. Southwest wants $127.41 for me to make the change. So the net cost of the ticket would be $820.78

But if I just book the same flights the cost would be $729.93. So in effect, SW would charge me $91 more to make the change vs just buying the ticket. I called support and they fixed the issue, but if this happened to me, it is happening to others.

The moral of the story is to check your fares to be sure this does not happen to you too.
