Tongue Piercing

I've always wanted to get my tongue pierced. Aside from obvious reasons, I just think they look nice and I've wanted to get it done since I was a teenager. I haven't done it because I'm worried about what people will think, specifically my husband. I'm also concerned with any potential issues related to my teeth, IE the bar doing damage to them. What experiences have you guys had? Should I do it?

I'm not stranger to piercings as I have several, but im curious what the aftercare and healing process was like. I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks in advance!
