Best week yet. Eighty-five records, forty-one species, and twenty-seven people logging.

Blackberry took a third of the total on its own with twenty-eight records, but the more interesting number is underneath: nine different people logged it this week, and the busiest one accounted for two-fifths of those records rather than the seven-tenths they did last week. It's stopped being one person's habit and started being everyone's.

Observations went from two to twenty-seven. Eleven of those were blackberry, ten ripe and one not, which is about the most literal picture of early August you could ask for.

Sloes appeared for the first time this season, with six records split between "sloes" and "blackthorn" — the same plant, two entries in my list, which is my mess to clear up. Rose hips tripled to three. Raspberry, cherry plum and dryad's saddle all doubled. Persian walnut appeared for the first time ever, twice. Elderberry slipped by one, and bilberries dropped from three to one.

First conker of the season as well; one common horse-chestnut, unripe.

Fungi: five records across four species — two dryad's saddle, plus a chicken of the woods, a beefsteak fungus and a spindle toughshank. Last week I said that number would look silly in a month. It's begun.

Thirty-seven milestones across the week. Nineteen people logged their first ever forage, eight recorded their first observation, six their first herb, three their first fungi and one their first vegetable.

Sixty-nine people who'd used the app before came back, up from forty-seven. Still quietly the number I care about most.

Records came from England and Scotland. Nothing from Wales this week after three last week, and Northern Ireland is still wide open — if you're over there, you could be the first.

Everything logged this week, most to least: blackberry, elderberry, sloes, blackthorn, rose hip, cherry plum, hazel, apples, hawthorn berries, raspberry, dryad's saddle, Persian walnut, greengage plum, prune plum, pears, bilberries, common horse-chestnut, meadowsweet, sweet woodruff, dewberry, mirabelle plum, marjoram, fat hen, comfrey, wild apple, lamb's quarters, beefsteak fungus, great hairy willowherb, wild garlic, sorrel, spindle toughshank, curled dock, horse-chestnut, ground elder, dog rose, catmint, chicken of the woods, walnut, water mint, yarrow, cherry.
