AIO - My sisters are avoiding getting anything off my baby registry
I (30F) casually mentioned the existence of my baby registry to my sisters (35, 33). One sister said she didn’t realize the registry was up and she'll "just bake something for the shower". I said that was nice, but it would honestly be more helpful if she put the money she’d spend on ingredients toward something we’ll actually need for the baby. My other sister said she’s going to make a stuffed animal "once she learns to sew". The two of them hounded on the fact that they "have the kid’s whole life to help raise it.”
I understand money is tight but my registry has a wide range of prices, with gifts starting at $7, plus cash funds. Very little has been purchased so there are plenty of affordable options left.
What bothers me is that both sisters regularly spend money on things like concert tickets, home decor, and trips, but apparently don’t want to spend even a small amount on the first baby in our family. One is planning a solo trip to Japan shortly after the baby is born, and the other recently talked about how much she spent on a cosplay costume. I even paid one of them $100 to dog sit recently, despite that being most of what was in my checking account at the time. The other one doesn't have a car and my husband and I have paid for numerous ubers for her.
I try to be generous with both of them and it hurts my feelings that it's not reciprocated. For context, I’m in the US, will only get 12 weeks off after birth with no pay, and this is our first child. So we’re starting from scratch. Any help with things we actually need would mean a lot.
I feel a little bratty for being annoyed but more so like an unprepared first time mom whose “village” wants full access to the baby without actually acting like villagers. AIO?
