how to tell people close to you about diagnosis
Was in remission for over a year. Something really bad happened and I feel myself slipping into old habits and unhealthy coping mechanisms.
I have met new people in the past year that don’t know about my diagnoses (I have more than just BPD, they only know about ASD). Today I got myself in a situation where I didn’t get my needs met, I didn‘t properly communicate what I felt and needed, walked away. Let my phone die, wandered for hours, hoping that the person in question would realize I wasn’t well and would start to worry about my wellbeing, calling, texting.
This used to be a big recurring theme in my past. I got home and immediately did some CBT exercises. Been so long.
My question is - for the people who have also experienced relapse after remission/recovery - do you tell others about your diagnosis? My goal is for people I care about to hold me accountable and be curious about my struggles so they can help me and recognize behaviors etc.
