Should I do a microbiology or biochemistry course?

:snoo: question

Is there any major difference in employability between the two is probably my main question ?

They both have an incorporated masters as well as a placement year. The main differences seem to be:

- the amount of chemistry in the first year, the inclusion of optional modules (microbiology has them, biochem doesn't)

-the degree accreditation (both are accredited by the national society, but biochem has advanced accreditation)

-the amount of medical biology in the course in the final year.

The only really strong interest I have rn is genetics but I'd also like the opportunity to work in environmental sciences if anything came up. I'm in the UK if that's relevant. Sorry if this is a silly question, my dad didn't go to uni so I don't really have anyone to ask for advice about further study
