I built this out of the case it came in to keep devkits as cheap as possible, though a printed petg case is in it's future.

The project consists of a FNK0104 style esp32 devkit screen and a secondary esp32 slave controller on the back. the slave controller handles input and sleep control whil;e the mains creen handles the OS. Both units communicate over UART1

I've been working on DOLL-OS and the devkits for it for a couple months now and it's in a place where i'd say it's ready to be ported to more boards, and to be tested by others! it does require PSRAM as it's a very full-featured firmware

It's mainly built for remote network management, featuring a full suite of tools such as arp-sweeping, ip scanning, telnet client and server, ssh and MQTT built into ROM. It’s interacted with via shell over Bluetooth hid and has a history ring, path-aware prompt, and it’s mirrored live across telnet in case you forgot your keyboard on the way to work. Paired with TailScale/built into a travel router, it becomes a genuinely useful remote management device for ssh’ing on the go, or on-site.

It has a unified storage namespace across LittleFS and the SD card, with support for running DAPP from both the internal flash and sd card. It features standard terminal commands for moving and interacting with files (ls/cd/cp/mv/rm/cat)

It ships with a built-in text editor with syntax highlighting for DAPP based on Nano

It features live config overrides, and a pseudo-registry, with settings configurable using the settings command.

**APP SUPPORT**

DAPP is a fairly full-featured custom implementation of a BASIC like scripting language, that can interact with AppRunner. It features http, json parsing, canvases, custom text modes, etc. It’s possible to make your own versions of tetris, LLM Chats, chat apps, or adventure games inside. The DAPP repo currently features 46 different packages I and my ai assistants have developed. Packages can be updated on the fly using the dapper package manager, and it supports HTTPS transport, with search/install/update/remove and verify abilities, and HTTPS artifact verification. I’ve even created a text-based web browser, completely in DAPP called browse, which you can fetch from the repo.

It features an audio driver using I2S using the ES8311 codec. You can natively stream internet radio using the radio command. It also features a 3 op synthesizer capable of producing triangles, sines, saws, and noise. The Synth is programmable through DAPP, and there’s even a tracker application, tracker-music, that allows you to write and save tracker files for playback on the device.

**HARDWARE:**

Runs on any freenove FNK0104 series board with support for both types of panel and all screen sizes. My personal units are a 2.8 and 3.5. Strongly recommend the 3.5 over the 2.8 if you do a lot of ssh.

**SLAVE UNIT:** I recommend the LonelyBinary esp32-s5 16r8. It doesn’t need to be a 16r8, or specifically this esp32, but it’s the one I’ve focused on in development. Slave controller features LED status indicator, telling you about pairing, status, etc. A Slave board is required for Bluetooth keyboard compatibility due to the ESP32 only having one antenna. If I was a better programmer, you could probably only use one, but I’m not, so a slave unit is my solution. It bitbangs serial over pins 17 and 18 to the main unit. You can send commands to the slave unit using the SLAVE command.

**\*Documentation is WIP but a lot already exists. recommend 3.5-4.0 inch boards over 2.8 or smaller as the 3.5 and 4.0 are 80 column and better for heavy telnet/ssh**
