Am I safe after 10 months
First of all I want to say I’m not exactly tech knowledgeable.
A while (almost 11 months ago now) back I visited a website that in hindsight was a mistake and Kaspersky notified me it blocked the download of malware and it kicked me out. I can’t remember if this happened when as soon as I opened the site on clicked on one of the links to a different page of the site.
Because I was an idiot then I did one search for if I was ok and the short answer was probably but I never ran a full scan or deleted my website cache.
Since then about 3 months later I started to worry and finally fully cleared my cache on chrome (only in chrome not through file explorer. I don’t know if that’s important) and same day or a bit later I ran a full scan with Kaspersky that was clean.
Ever since I have been on and off worrying. I’ve deleted my cache a couple times since, done another two full scans on kaspersky’s ‘extreme’ level. I’ve also been so much more careful with EVERYTHING. I check almost everything I download (I don’t do piracy) for games etc.
As far as I know I haven’t seen anything suspicious. At one point my computer was slow but I lost ethernet and my wifi is bad. Nothing in task manager seems to be using high memory or cpu for extended periods. GPU temp is normal. I haven’t seen anything suspicious in files either.
Recently in my /appdata/local I saw the file dingo.dingo_ship.win32 and a quick search suggests this corresponds to the notification from kaspersky at the start. Does this mean the malware got through despite me deleting cache or is this just a sign it did its job?
Overall I just want to know I’m safe so I can finally be at rest!
Although, I have faith in kaspersky’s scans I know it won’t necessarily detect all malware so that worries me.
(I will post this to a couple subs for hopefully
more responses. Sorry if you see it twice 🥲)
