Anyone been in this situation?

FTB here. Had an offer accepted on a house on the 22nd of May. Things had been going well no chain on either end so I thought it would be smooth sailing. Got a call today from my solicitor saying that there was a hold up with adoption of sewers.

I’ll try and keep it short and sweet. Basically builder of the development when bust. New builder came bought the development and finished the houses. Water board said there were snags with the sewers that needed sorted before they would adopt them. Builder said that’s fuck all to do with them and was the last builders mistake and they have no responsibility to sort it. Since then it’s been tit for tat between the builder and the water board.

My solicitor said she has no idea how long this could go on for. My current rent agreement is up at the end of the month. I’m probably 3 grand in the hole with this house.

My options are.

Ask for a rent extension and wait it out

Pack the stuff put it in storage and live with family. Would help with saving the 3 grand back but depending how long this drags for I don’t want to be overstaying my welcome with my aunt.

Last option which I don’t even know if it’s possible. The house we’re buying used to be a rented house. Perhaps I could ask the seller could we rent it off them until this is sorted? Least everything would be there and not in storage and it would give a better idea of the area

Anyone been in similar situations. Would you run? Any advice appreciated.
