Are creators becoming more cautious because platforms feel less explainable, not just less permissive?
One thing that feels different now is that a lot of creators are not just worried about whether a platform is strict. They are worried about whether they can understand how it behaves at all.
That matters because people can often work around clear boundaries. What is harder is posting confidently when reach, moderation, and overall platform mood all feel difficult to predict. That kind of uncertainty changes behavior fast.
On the Clapper app, we think free expression depends a lot on whether creators feel the environment is readable enough to post honestly in. If people are always guessing, they usually start shrinking their voice before anything even happens.
Curious how others see it:
- Is explainability becoming more important than leniency?
- What makes a platform feel understandable enough to trust?
- Are creators reacting more to uncertainty than to hard rules now?
