Can we talk about DPN (Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra) and how the skincare world completely ignores us?

I’ve been going down a rabbit hole lately and I need to know if I'm the only one experiencing this.

If you have melanin-rich skin, you’ve probably noticed those small, dark bumps (DPN) popping up over time—especially around the temples, cheeks, and neck. But have you noticed how nobody in mainstream skincare actually talks about them?

Growing up, many of us were told that melanin means we don't really have to worry about the sun. But between intense UV levels and the way the sun triggers hyperpigmentation and inflames DPN, it feels like we're left guessing. When people do try to treat DPN, the main option pushed is expensive laser removal or harsh treatments—often without anyone talking about how to protect the skin afterward so the spots don't just return.

And let's not even start on how hard it is to find daily sun protection that doesn't leave rich skin looking ashy or chalky, or clog sensitive areas with heavy chemicals.

Is anyone else exhausted by the lack of real education around DPN and melanin skin? What has your experience been like trying to take care of your skin? How do you manage it day-to-day?
