How to help with my anxiety over sleep training?
7m baby
He currently does about this schedule: 7am wake; 930 nap; 11am wake; 1:30pm nap; 2:30 wake; 4:00 nap; 4:30 wake; 7pm bedtime. He usually wakes up at midnight for a bonus feed and fusses around 3-4am but stays down or sometimes needs a quick cuddle. We have done no sleep training. Only sleeps in his crib.
bedtime routine: bath and bottle; cuddle to sleep (sometimes we put him down awake)
we let him wake up at 7am

Ok so I am torn on this. I would love to fully eliminate the 3-4am wake up and whining, but sometimes he wakes up and seems actually hungry. Doctor cleared us for sleep training months agao and I have been dragging my feet. We tried to start with ferber method a few weeks ago, but he had an allergic reaction to something from dinner, began projectile vomiting (not from crying a lot), and we had to go to the ER. This definitely spooked me a bit.
Can someone here convince me that we actually need to do sleep training? My wife is convinced we do need to, but I feel like the status quo is totally okay with me. I can't bear the thought of my son crying while we ignore him because he usually only cries when he does need something. She is insistent that as we go back to work in a month, we will need to have finished sleep training. Sorry I don't mean this as rage bait - I am genuinely looking for positive experiences to help me commit to this. If this is the wrong sub I am open to recommendations for a better place to post.
