unable to release and re-add deks phone

Good day,

I had set up a Google Voice account and added a desk phone. However, over the weekend, the phone and number disappeared from my account. I followed a doc that walked through restoring the number, but that did not work, and I have a new # assigned to my account. ok fine. I have to make some adjustments in my literature to point to the new phone #. However, when I try to re-add my phone, it says my phone is claimed by another service provider and cannot be added. I own the account that the phone was assigned to (I was receiving calls on it). How do I release the phone and allow it to be re-added?

I don't want to lose out on a locked-up phone, as that gets pricey. How do I force a release so I can re-add it?
