Does using tadpoles matter?

Look i know I shouldn't give myself spoilers and all that BUT I NEED TO KNOW. This is my first playthrough, and I just got to the part where dream visitor first appeared and advise me to use the tadpoles. I saw somewhere that using it eventually make you ugly? Idk, I don't want my character to be ugly, and I'm terrified to get a bad ending. So does using it matters? ( I didn't want to outright look it up cuz I still want to avoid big spoilers, but I dont mind a little info)
