Should I get a credit card?

I’m 20 and have never messed with credit cards before. I am going into my 3rd year of college and am renting a house. I am starting to make larger financial decisions and I feel like I’m behind.

I have not spent much money in my life compared to other people my age. I’ve lived off my parent’s food and housing for my entire life. However I have paid for my own car, I pay for my tuition, my own gas. Clothes. My computer. Other than that I don’t make any big purchases.

I want to start learning how credit, investing, etc. all works, how do I get started? They’ve always told me I do not need a credit card and should never get one but I’m unsure of that.

Any tips or suggestions for me?
