Torrance Transit 2030 Plan

Fantasy Maps

Since other agencies (GTrans, Long Beach Transit, Culver CityBus) are updating their Service Study, I decided to modernize Torrance Transit's agency.

Changes:

  • Line 1 will be rerouted to its original glory on Madrona Ave and Carson St. Service to/from Downtown Los Angeles will be reinstated only on peak hours. Route will also terminate inside Union Station.
  • Line 2 will operate independently from Line 5. Route will also extend to Riviera Village via Prospect Ave to provide opportunities between El Camino College and Riviera Village.
  • Line 3 will merge both its Local and Rapid routes.
  • Line 4 will be reinstated as a simplified route between Riviera Village and Torrance Transit Center. Route will be streamlined to travel along Calle Mayor instead of going inside neighborhoods. Route will extend to Torrance Transit Center, staying on Hawthorne Bl and traveling along Torrance Bl and Crenshaw Bl.
  • Line 5 will not only operate independently, but will serve the Torrance Transit Center via Del Amo Bl in both trips.
  • Line 6 will be shortened to Torrance Transit Center due to low ridership on 190th St west of Crenshaw Bl.
  • Line 7, as proposed, will terminate at Del Amo Mall to the west (layover will be on Carson/Hawthorne, shared with Line 1). Route will be extended to serve Willow Street Blue Line Station.
  • Line 8 will be shortened to Del Amo Mall, via Line 2's former route pattern.
  • Potentally extend Line 9 to serve Five Points Union Project when it opens in 2035.
  • Line 13 will lay over inside Pier circle.
  • Introduction of Torrance Trolley and Beach Trolley, the latter operating Summer Only.
