Better Pay, Better Schedule

I’m from Bulacan and I recently started with a company in BGC. On my first day, my manager gave me a very warm welcome and was genuinely happy to have me on the team. She mentioned that they had been waiting for quite some time to fill the position and that she even negotiated for a higher budget than what was originally approved just to bring me on board.

She also told me that she wasn’t strict with the RTO setup of 4 days RTO and 1 days WFH. The regular working hours are 8AM to 5PM, but coming from Bulacan, the commute to BGC is challenging, especially during rush hours.

Right after I finished my New Employee Orientation, I received another job offer during lunch from a company in Ortigas. The setup is 2 days RTO and 3 days WFH, with working hours from 3PM to 12AM. The salary is also ₱20K higher than what I’m currently getting.
I showed the JO to my current manager and asked if they could match the offer, but unfortunately, they couldn’t. I ended up leaving the office that same day.

Honestly, I feel bad about it because I know my manager had been waiting for someone to fill the role, and now they’re basically back to square one. But at the same time, I have to make the decision that’s best for me.
