I need a different POV to my situation.

STEM

So I have a thing that has been bothering me recently, and I really want someone else's second opinion on it. I am currently a masters student in a blended food science and nutrition program, its the only graduate degree in either area that is offered IN THE COUNTRY, you get tracks, and I am in food science, so my major courses are all in that area and I also have to do my thesis in food science but I still take 2 nutritional biochemistry courses so it counts as a "blended program" administratively. I did my undergrad in nutrition and really wanted to transition into food science, so this is the best step for me.

The issue for me is, I recently completed a summer internship in public health nutrition research where you work on a bit of a larger project and present it at the end with a poster, and once I was done with it, I was offered to stay longer to contribute more, I was offered authorship of two papers and first authorship on two conference posters. This is an amazing deal for me as I come from a country where research isn't as developed and getting your foot in to any sort of research is hard. While this offer is amazing, it is not food science focused. I am worried because I am trying to move from nutrition and steer towards food science and hopefully do my PhD in it.

So, should I take this offer and get authorship or should I not add anymore research to my CV other then this summer research experience?
