Mordecai's form in Book 7
Very minor spoiler about Mordecai's form in book 7 and speculation regarding what it could mean?
In the first book we learn that Mordecai is a doppelganger, which allows him to take the form of any race he has touched. However, he lacks the ability to control this and instead takes a different form at each floor.
In Book 7, Mordecai takes the form of a human Canadian... which I mostly took as a joke at the start of the book; but then it got me thinking... did Mordecai touch a Canadian? Does this imply that Canadians are a broader race of humanity that exists beyond our planet? Or is it possible, that in this version of the crawl, that Mordecai was also the game guide for a different crawler, or group of crawlers from Canada?
I assume that the most likely, and less fun, answer is that the racial form of human allow for all possible versions of "human"; even if the doppelganger hadn't necessarily touched a being from that human's region. After all, it's only now, after Mordecai became a human, that I even considered that his from was from a specific region or a specific world. I never considered what region of what planet his Rat Hooligan form was portraying.
But still, I have to wonder if there is something more to him being Canadian...
