Landlord is no contact and still owes deposit (FL)

Landlord Tenant Housing

So I moved out from my Florida apartment the end of June, and the apartment was in perfect condition except for some holes from hanging pictures. A few weeks ago the landlord said he was working on returning my deposit, and asked for my forwarding address. No communication since.

I understand that in Florida he has thirty days to get me the deposit back minus whatever charges. It's been well longer than that at this point, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do about it? Do I get a lawyer to write a letter? Is there some place I can report him? It's "only" $1,000 but I sure could use it, and I sure am owed it.

But... Like what do I do..? The web wasn't very helpful.
