Giving up dog

So im currently being evicted and I cant get emergency housing if i have a dog, which i do, ive had him for over 6 years (March 13, 2020) and was a gift from my grandparents and my first dog i actually owned and i need to get rid of him today to proceed with housing

Anyone know any good ways to cope with the pain of losing my best friend and finally let go?
