Is prednisone ok with bipolar.

I have a bad poison ivy rash to the point my ankle is pretty swollen which is unusual for me. But a few people have said I should go to urgent care and get a steroid but I know they can have side effects. Anybody have experience with it? It should go away in a day or 2 it’s just the swelling that has me unsure.
