In 1.1.1 we got back PTE version on vanilla branch. As for me, I like this return, but with changes we got back 7 helmets of Mechanised infantry.

This cause a problem, what transport machine AMPV now can transport only 1 Mech infantry squad instead of 2. And mow this unit is usfull only with 6 helmets of SOCOM infantry squads (Picture 1). As I know, this helmets buff was made, because Mech Riflemen units and M113 wasnt a popular choise.

So here my vision of alternative buff of mechanised infantry. Its not really what we suppose to see in a game, but just a case for discussion.

Mech Riflemen were weak in anti-infantry role, so in 1.1.1 they get 1 more M249 an 1 more M203. So let them save their weapons and loose 1 helmet. And there is one suggestion to buff their anti-infantry component, is to give them another rifles and give them 600m range (Picture 2). This will let them use their primary weapons with their M249 on a same distance together. Dont look at their price, we know what price is a float variable in our game, but I think what 55-60 is a good price for this unit. Mech Riflemen dont need many AT launchers, because they play close to their machines, so they will get 4. After changes, Mech Riflemen should become unit with good anti-infantry side, but with small amount of HP.

We know what infantry rifles work on a 400-500m range, so we need some kind of argumentation to give them 600m range. There are 2 rifles in a game which can shoot on 600m range - marines M27 and baltic G3. So we can give to Mech Riflemen an old M16A4 and say, what this gun have longer barrel (M16 is a rifle instead of M4 carbine), and good optic scope, which allow riflemen use their guns on 600m distance. (Picture 3)

The second unit which was buffed is a Riflemen MMG, which got the third heavy M240. So now this is a mirror to Russian Pulemetchiki squad. Instead of manage count of machineguns in this squad, lets give them another cool gun - MG 338. (Picture 4). Its looks like Rangers squad didn't deserve to be the sole owner of this cool machinegun, its not even their signature gun. I hope its not to hard to draw new pictures for Rangers with Javelin/Stinger :D so Rangers can get their socom KAC LMG.

Mech Engineers dont need any changes, because they are cool anyway, Mech Riflemen is a full infantry squad, which costs as Stinger team, but have only 1 launcher and dont have any smokes and even a few light AT launchers, so forget about them in this case.

So guys, what do you think about a 7-helmet buff?
