What is considered abnormal bruising?
Hi, 38y caucasian female here. I have been bruising extremely easily for the last 9 months or so. When would this be considered abnormal or concerning?
It feels sort of silly to go to my PCP over bruising.
I will include 2 photo examples below if I can. Both instances did not cause me any pain at time of "injury".
*** I also get bruising on the tops of my feet if I tie my shoes a little too snug (not uncomfortabley tight).
*** I have a small ring bruises around my biceps simply from my hockey equipment being strapped securely.
Background:
- I have been taking supplements for low Ferritin and low B12 for the past year. In January my PCP had me stop taking my PPI as well, to hopefully help with absorption.
Ferritin was 11 and B12 was 184 in January 2026. Both had increased since previous labs. My symptoms of low Ferritin have improved significantly, but I do need updated labs to confirm my current levels.
- Also seem to have incredibly slow wound healing. A simple nic from shaving will take upwards of 3 weeks to heal into a red scar that lasts forever. Wounds often become quite red and irritated while healing.
- CBC w/ differential was normal. INR/PTT normal. TSH normal.
