11 month old wakes up incessantly at night
Hello
My 11 month old son has NEVER slept through the night. He is 100% breastfed.
His sleep was always terrible but lately, he literally wakes up every 1 to 2 hours nightly. From birth, he has never woke up less than 3-4 times nightly. It ranges from 3-8 times, every single night.
The only thing that settles him is breastfeeding. The trouble is that because he had many difficulties latching, I never introduced a pacifier. Because of that he's highly dependent on breastfeeding for soothing. I tried introducing a pacifier now but he has zero interest in it. I tried at least 10 different kinds. I am so so exhausted.
His bed time is 9 pm- 9am. He gets two naps a day.
I keep reading about babies who never sleep through the night till they're almost 2 years old. Did any of you have this experience? Did anything help?
We safely Co-sleep currently. For the past few nights, my husband has been sleeping with the baby hoping that some distance from me will help him wake up less. It hasn't really helped.
Things I've tried.
-
Feeding him a large meal an hour before bed
-
Having him drink lots of water in case he is waking up because he is thirsty
-
Introducing one bottle of 6 onces of formula before bed to make sure he is getting a substantial amount of milk incase my supply was low and I had no idea and maybe that was what was waking him up.
-
Reducing his naps to less than 45 mins
None of these have worked.
I keep reading that babies that can never self sooth or sleep properly may have neurological issues or are on the spectrum. I get so worried. I am a first time mom and always panicking
I am so patient with him at night, I love him so much. But I am almost 40 and so damn tired.
Please give me some hope and share some tips!!!!
