2nd hand buying help Ninja1000

Hi so im looking at dropping around 10k on a sports tourer. Previously my bikes have all been bought on Hire Purchase financing but after completing payments on the current stable and selling up, I have saved enough for something like a good condition Ninja.

I have only ever bought new before, is there any advice to buying a bike second hand as you dont seem to be able to test drive 2nd hand bikes which I find unnerving.
