Why do innocuous questions or responses prompt immediate downvotes in this subreddit ?

People will give the most neutral takes/ responses and I’ll notice their comments get downvoted to hell or people start arguing, never seen anything like it elsewhere, are Irish Redditors hard to humor or is there some social barrier in communication ?
