Is it normal to have a DBS check when moving internally within a company?

I’m curious to hear from people who work in tech / corporate jobs in the UK.

If you move internally within the same company, for example, from one department or role to another is it normal for the company to ask you to complete a new DBS check as part of the internal transfer?

I’m particularly interested in whether this is something that commonly happens when the new role has different responsibilities, I wouldn’t say it’s a higher move, more sideways or one grade higher, security access would stay the same, rather than being a completely new employment relationship.

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced this, especially if you’ve moved between departments/roles within the same company.
