Why are asian students so awards and competitions focused???

I just saw an instagram post from this girl from my country with like a dozen slides COVERED in text listing each of her awards, the sheer amount made me wonder how that’s even humanly possible. I’ve also noticed it’s so common for Asian kids to have an entire display case of trophies, medals they’ve earned etc in their houses, as well as a bunch of paper certificates in anything. Compared to the U.S., Asia hands out gold medals like they’re candy…😭Like the U.S. is less focused on physical awards, meanwhile in Asia there seems to be an inflation of them. There are many very smart applicants in the U.S. who don’t have all 5 honors slots filled, meanwhile Asian kids have an abundance
