Longinus Pronunciation

Pretty sure Mathas' pronunciation is how they pronounce it in Evangelion, right? Only asking because that's the only time I have personally heard the name said aloud prior the most recent episode and definitely would have pronounced it the same way without question. Did anime do us dirty?
