Sebo K3 Premium in 2026 - First Few Weeks Review
Thanks to this sub, I got a Sebo K3 Premium in late July 2026 and i wanted to give back to the community that pointed me in this direction by providing an early review, especially for the folks who are looking for their first nice vacuum, or have only had shitty vacuums and/or don't vacuum as much as they'd like.
first, our story:
My wife and i have a cat with SEVERE dust/dustmite allergies. he would lick and chew his skin raw bald and bloody and it took months before going to a specialist at a university which discovered the allergy. he's allergic to dust, dustmites, and a random tree i don't think we have around here. he used to get a shot 2x monthly for allergies, which worked okay. soon, the shots became less effective and it got to weekly. the shots were losing effectiveness again, and our vet says the next steps might involve oral meds or more serious treatments that we've tried and he hates, and he's already a scaredy cat and we don't want to traumatize him. as a last ditch effort to avoid travelling across the state to the specialist for next steps, we decided to try to better tackle the allergy at the source - the dust.
We have a 3-4br 2ba ~1500sqft house with 3 split levels (Half a staircase between each level), a basement, and 70% carpet. We also have 2 short hair cats and a short hair dog with bristley hair who sheds a lot. We have only ever had cheap vacuums, and if we're honest, we've neglected the chore as it often didn't seem to do a whole lot. our Shark Navigator was super stinky and became our litter vac, but i could feel it spit cat litter back at my feet. the Dyson Ball the last owners left with the house was marginally better, but also stinky, and emptying the can released a plume of dust which made vacuuming dust feel futile. i deep cleaned it a few times and it was still underpowered and stinky. we wanted a good vacuum with lots of filtration to catch and keep the dust, and we vowed to vacuum at least weekly if not more.
i went down a rabbit hole here in this sub. i was originally fairly set on the Miele C1 cat and dog, as you can get HEPA filters for it, but every time the sub pointed me to Sebo. i went to a local vac store, and they said the same - check out the K3, the E3, or the Felix. the guy at the store pushed the canister vacs more because of the extra filters, longer hose, and versatility of the attachments. he suggested the E3 since it was newer as the K3 is a nearly 20 year old design, but for an extra $150 i couldn't justify it, especially when i was already exceeding my initial $700 budget. We got the K3 instead.
The actual Review:
Our local vac store sold us the K3 for $899, threw in a box of bags and the premium parquet tool for 50% off with the purchase of the vacuum. we've had it for 2 weeks and so far, we love the K3. we were shocked how quiet it was. at first, i was convinced it was clogged or something was off, because it was WAY quieter than our old vacs. my dog didn't even get up from the couch and she usually fights vacuums. our first cleaning of our house filled a whole bag halfway thru. i had to cut my long thick hair out of the brush roll, but that at least meant it was getting the hair. it's removable so this was super easy to do. i was extra thorough and went over the same rooms a few times, but we were shocked how soft the carpets were felt and how much less the house smelled. the second pass a few days later filled half a bag. it's like we never vacuumed before, and while we probably only vacuumed 1-2x a month before, we'd often not even fill the bagless canister with a single pass.
the most annoying bit is wrangling the canister. the salesman said he likes the E3 better because the hose is in the middle making steering easier while the K3 is off to the side, and while he has a point, i can get used to this. he's almost certainly right, but i feel at a certain point, most of the criticisms of this vacuum come from "vacuum people" or are problems i'm in the wrong tax bracket to notice. but i think all canisters will be equally annoying. the host gets twisted which is not that hard to fix, but happens frequently. if i'm not paying attention, the canister might catch cords, so i have knocked a lamp over. i think this is user error and inherent to canisters, so aside from getting an upright, this seems unavoidable.
the cable is LONG. i could do my entire main level, and without unplugging the vacuum, i can do the upstairs bathroom, the guest room, and all but about 2sqft in the corner of the master bedroom without unplugging the vacuum from the living room. the hose is long enough to have the canister on the floor and get all 7 of the half-stairs separating the split levels. the only issue i have with this vacuum for stairs is the ET-1 powerhead is big and bulky for stairs, and the included attachments aren't awesome on carpeted stairs. but i can unplug the powerhead from the extended handle and directly onto the handle and if i support the powerhead in my left, i can get the stairs with my right. it's unwieldy, but those stairs have never been cleaner.
speaking of the powerhead and extended handle, it lays so flat i can get under ALL of my furniture without moving anything except my dresser and my desk chair. all couches, chairs, tables, etc require NO MOVEMENT TO GET UNDER. it's great! the head can be bulky for narrow spaces, but the same head is used for even the fancier models, so upgrading would not have changed this.
the hose attachments work great for upholstery. we can't get all the bristley dog hair out of the fibers, but that's to be expected, and most of them get sucked up with no problem. we used the dust attachment everywhere we could reach, and it's soft and great. the crevice tool is a crevice tool. nothing special. we did buy the premium Parquet tool at the recommendation of this sub and the salesman, and it's great on hard floors. sweeps our kitchen better than a broom, got our bathrooms super clear, and the hardwood in one bedroom was effortless as well. definitely worth it, but we got ours half off as a promo for buying.
the most important thing about this vacuum is that our cat's skin has already started to heal and clear up. before the vacuum he had more fresh open sores because the dust made him itchy and he overgroomed and chewed his skin until it bled. 2 weeks and 4 vacuumings later, it's like when the shots were new. he used to have an entirely bald leg which was scabby and raw. he has one or two small spots that are still rough, but the hair on his previously bald leg is growing back in and he's mostly left that area alone. He seems more confident walking around the house, and he grooms himself a lot less. this is exactly the result i was hoping for. i'll try to update this as time goes on, but so far, this vacuum is the miracle allergy treatment we were hoping for.
Summary:
If you're looking for a vacuum and aren't already a "Vacuum person" this one is great. i'm sure the criticisms of the model are valid, but they mostly seem to come from folks who have had more than one nice vacuum. if you don't have lots of data points to compare it to, this is more than a great vacuum. it's only loud if you've had quieter vacuums, but nothing from your local big box store is quieter. the negativity coming from this sub at times is coming from people who treat vacuuming as a borderline hobby. my house smells better, the floors are softer, my cat has fewer allergic reactions, and i'm completely satisfied with my purchase. strongly recommend if you're trying to get a vacuum to help with dust allergies. just change the bags and filters often. if your budget is even close to this vacuum and a little more saving will get you here, splurge. you won't regret it. this is my first fancy vac and while i may get a stick vacuum as well for quick jobs, i can't go back to cheapo bagless vacs. Don't overthink Sebo. if you can swing it, just do it.
