Head Movement

Probably unpopular opinion, I love head movement in these games and it’s a strength, I hated the movement in 6 at first, but I got good at it again and I enjoy it now. now that I’ve played 6 a lot I have to say it’s a downgrade in this game, even if it’s still enjoyable.

The variety of animations now is nice, but they’re so janky and inaccurate compared to the last games, all that variety has come at the cost of nice control, and the hitboxes on the old ones felt clean and accurate, how precise you could time minor slips and how fluid major leaning felt compared to 6

Especially the slip uppercut counter, but pretty much all head movement, is just so janky feeling compared to previous games.

Slip uppercuts now feel like a quick time event…the whole game freezes the second you get it and press the input, and then a weird lock on uppercut lands

In the past games yes the head movement didn’t have all the unique looking animations, but it actually represented what was happening in game, now it feels like fake animations are played over the top that constantly play “catch up” to what is actually happening - that’s why you see those rogue punches that stretch the arm or warp the opponent just to make the punch land

I’m saying that as someone who’s good at head movement. It feels so easy now, like a quick time event, when you use head movement in properly they can still keep swinging as if they didn’t whiff, but the second you press your uppercut, it cancels all their strikes and lets you nuke them

just because I slip and press uppercut doesn’t necessarily mean I’d beat him to his next punch, the game should just give them a slight delay for the whiff and let us time our strikes, not hold your hand

Right now you can use head movement and make the guy whiff 2 punches in a row, he won’t be tired and he can keep swinging like it never happened, but if you press uppercut during one of those it stops him swinging before you even land.

But if you slip and hook their body, while they whiff another strike at your head?? Nope, they can just keep swinging freely, because it wasn’t a slip uppercut

It rewards just looking for 1 slip upper, instead of consistently making your opponent miss multiple strikes. It’s boring and easier for ppl like me who have decent head movement, I can be losing the fight just fishing for that one moment to win lol

A short term fix, make whiffing actually slow down their next strike in every single case, not just these specific windows that freeze your opponent, because right now if you duck a strike while blocking it does not delay their next punch, but if you duck without blocking it delays them for a counter. Both are whiffs, instead of holding our hand for the counter on one, and holding the combo spammers hand on the other, make it the same for both - a short delay for whiffing
