One person paying for house, another person putting name on it

Hi. I (25F) am slightly worried for my mother who has plans to buy a house at auction with her relatively new boyfriend. Their plan is for him to buy the house with his funds, but her name will be on the house.

It’s a complete doer-upper needing total renovation. She lives in Scotland but the house is in Wales. I understand that property laws differ between these areas.

My concern is the implications of this arrangement should the relationship not work out. Of course she is a grown woman and I’m not planning to stop her, but I would like to understand what I might be dealing with in terms of fallout at some point.
