Will working for a supply company have any bearing on a future apprenticeship?

Seeking Advice

I’ve been working for a well known and respected supply company for around 6mos. My plan was spend a few months, see if I’ll learn anything and work on my portfolio. I’ve learned a bit but that quickly flatlined after the first few months. It’s not convenient for me as it’s about 3 hours drive time a day, 8.5 hour shifts, 5x a week and the pay is below the low end average for what I’m doing. They seem to be stalling me on my raise that was a no thought “done” when asked.
I have the background and options available to go work a normal job, make at minimum $5 bucks an hour more than I am (not even asking for half that as my raise) and be able to spend more time at home and practicing my drawing, which I usually have to cram into weekend nights since I have no time through to week to do normal home upkeep let alone practice and draw.
So basically what I’m asking, is working for the supply company going to have any effect or have any type of impact when I start my search for an apprenticeship or am I wasting my time being used for cheap labor?
