What is your outlook on Gen Z economically?
I’m a Gen Z going into my last year of university, and I can’t help but think about the dystopian future we have ahead of us and just how screwed our generation is.
The promise used to be pretty straightforward: get an education, land a high paying job, build a career, buy a home, buy a car, have kids, and eventually retire. That promise is literally gone in every aspect...
Housing where I live (Toronto) is abysmal. $3M for a brick house built in the 70s. The pension funds are drying up for future generations, not to mention that with inflation they would likely be rendered useless anyways. Half of my generation no longer want to have kids due to money/ uncertainty with political and economic conditions. A 30y career, that’s going to be gone due to AI.
We are entering a world driven by pure greed, and because society has allowed this greed to prevail, It will never go back to normal. Affordable housing, food, etc.
Man even our architecture has reflected this new world order. God forbid a developer spends a bit more money to bring back art deco architecture, or to spend some money building a pediment once in a while.
It can’t just be me right?
