How to loop every monster in the game. (Guide)
General knowledge:
Check spots are a core part of the game and are vital to survival. Once you get your tasks done or you see the monster, run to your nearest check spot and wait. Staying at a check spot puts you in a much better position and for certain monsters makes them unable to kill you.
It’s ok to die when doing a task. Most tasks put you in a poor position and if that position is bad enough you will be unable to escape. Only do dangerous tasks if you are certain the monster is far away and preoccupied with someone else.
You will die. The strongest monsters will eventually catch up to you and that’s how it should be. If you could loop forever the monsters would never be able to win. That being said, half the monster roster you can loop for long periods of time if you play correctly.
Stamina management. You need to manage your stamina correctly as if you don't you will not last long. Don’t sprint if a monster isn't near you and make sure to keep your eye on the monster’s position. A good tip is to stop running when you know the monster can't catch up to you.
Chase restarts. A chase restart is an ability that doesn't give any stamina advantage and usually just allows the monster to get on top of you to begin a chase where both players are at max stamina.
This next section will be on how to loop every monster and the counter to their abilities. Something to keep in mind is this guide requires you to be in a check spot to avoid certain issues.
Vapor:
The most balanced but convoluted character.
Demonic Shift is one of the most unclear abilities to avoid in the entire game. When in chase with Vapor and you're approaching his warp don't run towards it and instead walk towards it. Doing this allows you to regen stamina and if Vapor is to teleport it will basically be a chase restart as you will both be at max stamina. Vapor will play an animation and a sound cue when teleporting so run before Vapor teleports. If you are to run towards or through the warp you will die as Vapor will have a stamina advantage if he teleports to you.
Scorching Grip is rather easy to avoid but still a strong ability. Something important to keep in mind is that Vapor doesn't need to land this ability to kill you, if Vapor gains too much distance from this ability you will die no matter what as Vapor will have a massive stamina advantage. Run around small loops so he can’t gain much distance. When in open areas you can sidestep this ability as Vapor can’t adjust where he’s going quickly.
Blazing Cage is unavoidable depending on the map. The best thing to do is to run through the fire if you need to, don’t be afraid to take some damage. Waiting for the ring of fire to go away will often just let Vapor kill you.
Rosemary:
Rosemary lacks any real chase power and is rather easy to avoid. Check spots are key.
Soul Traversal does nothing if you run away whenever the ability is used. The speed Rose gets from this ability doesn't matter if you're already running away.
Demonic Shriek doesn't matter if you are far away. When in a position where Rose has you cornered try to dodge the ability.
Demonic Essence again does nothing if you already have distance. If rosemary hits you when Demonic Essence is active you die.
Valem:
This dude needs a nerf.
Demonic Warp allows Valem to teleport on top of you whenever he wants. When in chase with Valem don’t run too far as Valem can just use this ability and gain a massive stamina advantage. When this ability is used Valem will make a portal, don’t go through the portal. Not being able to see can make you accidentally run into an illusion.
Trickery is the most overtuned ability in the game. If Valem is to teleport to an illusion in chase you will insta die, the speed he gets and the stamina refill is so good he will kill you. Try to stay as far away from his illusions as possible. Valem can also spawn a clone and insta use it to push you out of check spots so be careful on weak ones.
Truth Bind does nothing if you have distance and stamina.
Ao Oni:
Only good cause of minions.
Brute strength is awful and is only useful if Ao oni catches up to you.
Infestation is Ao Oni’s only real chase power. Grasshoppers are very fragile and will often die before they reach you as they have a max distance they can travel. Just sprint far away and you won’t get hit.
Burrow is a chase restart that is rather easy to avoid. When Ao oni chooses to leave the burrow a sound cue will play before he leaves the ground giving you plenty of time to avoid it. Stay out of the center of the burrow before the sound cue plays and you will escape.
Oni vision allows Ao Oni to see where everyone is at all times so be extremely careful of going into dead ends for tasks.
Mini Oni's are unavoidable chip damage.
Fogborn:
Not S tier. Will eventually kill you.
When above 50% impatience Fodborn gets a 10% speed boost so make sure to keep an eye on him.
Staticbiosis is a chase restart that is very similar to Ao Oni’s but better. Just avoid being in the center of Staticbiosis before the marker appears and you will not get hit. When hit with Staticbiosis Fogborn gets a speedboost which will straight up just kill you. Fogborn can whittle down your stamina with this ability and Stalking Stance.
Paralyzing Gaze is an awful chase power. When in chase with Fogborn look at him and when your screen darkens look away.
Stalking Stance does nothing substantial if you look out for him. Can be used to make a bit more distance.
Brutum:
This man hates squares. Run around small loops and he has no abilities.
Charging demise can kill you if you run too far from Brutum. If you run too far he can use this ability and will gain a stamina advantage. Press against a wall to avoid getting hit.
Goliathan Leap can also give Brutum a stamina advantage if you run too far. Keep a medium distance and he won’t gain that much benefit from this ability.
Crumbling Route is very good at cutting off areas so don't corner yourself and stay in areas where you have multiple ways to go.
Pal Percy:
Annoying but beatable.
Together Forever is easy to avoid just don't go down long hallways. If you can’t avoid the ability, stop running before Percy even uses the ability so you can regen some stamina while being pulled.
Wire Terror on most maps is Unavoidable. Avoid areas you haven't been to recently to avoid accidentally running into a trap. Avoid cornering yourself as Percy, similar to Brutum, can place a trap to cut you off.
The 4 Tama-Terrors are straight forward, just don’t run into them. Read the PC wiki if you want more info on how they all work.
Turbotime is meh. When Percy is on Turbotime just run around small loops the buff isn’t that good. When Tama-Terrors are Turbotimed just hope they don’t come for you.
I hope this was helpful to someone as I see a lot of people struggling.
