Does being a long-standing customer even matter?

My wife and I have been with State Farm (home and auto) for 18 years and I think the account is even older than that as she had State Farm before we were married and I think we might have added my car to it once we got married and then later bought a house after marriage, too.

I want to shop our insurance around but I’m concerned about losing that longstanding history with a carrier.

Does it even matter anymore?
