PSA 1000 troubleshooting

I have a PSA1000 and I'd like to troubleshoot the chain oil system. The saw did not appear to be dispensing oil when I last fired it up years ago. Decided to try to revive it yesterday, and the chain was frozen in place on the guide bar. I've ordered a new guide bar, and have a new chain. My question is: Is it possible to see if the tool is pumping oil at all, by running it without the guide bar or chain. It's out of warranty, and if not pumping oil, I'd guess that repair cost might approach replacement cost, since I'm already into it for a new guide bar, etc. If I can determine that the lubrication system is working up to guide bar, then I'm good to go.
