Help for beginner please!

I have a Canon EOS M50 Video Creator Kit I was gifted a few years ago that has sat in its box since receiving.

I would like to sell/ trade it in for a more portable camera that is better suited for my wants / needs. I am just a girl who wants good pictures with friends and family for memories & social media.

My friend has a G7X that we always take pictures on when out and about and I like the way those turn out.

My budget is $1500 or less. I really just want something that takes good pictures (flash too) that is portable enough for me to bring around in my purse. I want to avoid paying an overinflated price for a camera that is just popular on social media

I am extremely uneducated on all things cameras. I would appreciate any recommendations on what camera would best suit my needs and worth it for the money! My goal is to sell / trade in current camera for new one
