Should I start at level 2 or skip to level 20?

Hi all,

Looking to get back into the game after a very long break (since around the release of the bos storyline, though I've not played it).

I was wondering whether I should start at level 2 or go straight to level 20 and get straight into the action.

I would consider going level 20 simply because I really want to make a gauss rifle build and from what I understand, the earliest I can obtain one is level 35.

Though what does everyone recommend, should I start at level 2 for the beginner experience, or should I skip straight to level 20 and get me closer to getting to my build idea much faster.

(Quick side note but I hate how weapons and armour are scaled to levels, I'm sure there's a balance reason to it, but it still makes early game so boring. 😭)
