r/JureSanguinis Rule Updates

Community Updates

Hi y'all - as you know, the mod team makes an active effort to stay on top of things and keep this a place that is friendly, optimistic, and helpful for JS seekers.

Rule 10, No AI-Generated Content, was put in place last year to reduce the amount of AI generated material that would appear on the sub, because it was intrusive and detracted from our ability to help folks. Our results have been mixed.

We've decided to lift the ban on AI generated content in favor of a set of rule updates that will better allow us to prevent truly objectionable behavior.

___

1. Rule 10 is updated from "No AI-generated content" to "No undisclosed usage of AI", which reads as follows:

To

We'll ask for your patience as we try to enforce this rule fairly. If you have a post or comment removed under Rule 10, it may be that AI just writes like you - modmail us and we'll get it sorted.

For example, a post or comment should begin with:
“I used AI in this post to translate my post from Portuguese to English.”
“The banner image of this post is AI generated.”
“I used an AI assistant to organize my thoughts in this comment.”
"I didn't use AI to write this, but there are nuances to my issue that require this wall of text." (in cases where it's unclear that you didn't use AI, we'd ask you to err on the side of caution)

2. Rule 6 gets updated to be two tiers, Misinformation escalating into Disinformation:

We can't have our eyes on every interaction, but where a consistently false narrative is being pushed, we'll remove incorrect information to prevent it from propagating. Opinion or theory is, as always, welcome - just please make clear what it is.

A user runs afoul of the "No Disinformation" rule if they repeatedly post misinformation. If it's starting to look like someone is doing this on purpose or maliciously, we go from Misinformation to Disinformation, which is a zero tolerance rule and subject to a ban.

3. New Rule 12: "Help Us Help You"

If something you've posted gets removed under Rule 12, please don't take it personally - our goal is to help you get answers without a lot of back-and-forth. This might mean asking you to add necessary details, consolidate an extremely verbose post (which you're welcome to use AI to do, so long as you disclose the fact), or direct you to a wiki page that has the answers you're looking for already.

___

We'll do our best to implement these fairly and reasonably. We're hoping these changes will help us keep the sub approachable in a predictable way. As always, modmail is right here if you have any questions.
