Dads: looking for perspective about upcoming move.
Wife and I decided last night to accept a job offer and move the family to a new city with our 8yo and 4yo. It's the better career move and it gets us much closer to both her parents and my parents (from 2 hrs to 20-30 minutes tops). But we love our current house, school, and community, and while the advantages of this move are hypothetical, the immediate losses are real.
Looking for perspective: what are the family benefits that I'm not even seeing yet? What do I need to do to ensure this move is worth it for the kids? How can I support my kids with the transition? And maybe most impactful of all, how to manage the 8yo switching schools in the middle of the school year?
