Positive thoughts
Just wanted to add a few positives because there seems to be a lot of negativity on here.
This was my 3rd Houghton, so I can’t really compare it to the magical first two years everyone talks about, but we’ve travelled over from the Netherlands every year and brought different friends with us each time, so clearly we’re still enjoying ourselves.
A few things I thought were genuinely better this year:
The crowd felt way better than 2025. Less busy, less fluffy hats and we didn’t queue to get into the festival or the arena once.
Sound seemed better too. The raised speakers at the Pavilion definitely helped and I didn’t think it was anywhere near as quiet as previous years.
Yes, there was chatting, but you can move around and find quieter spots. We never really struggled with it.
People also seemed a bit more aware of it. Saw a guy at XDB actually shushing people, big up to him.
Talking of XDB @Outburst was fucking brilliant. Everyone was properly bopping and that 3 hour set was an absolute pleasure. Highlight of the weekend for me. Someone PLEASE find that O Superman remix.

Good riddance to the overflowing shit portaloos in live-in vehicle camping.
Community litter pick and free ashtrays were a nice touch
Saw a random couple checking on a guy who was sleeping under a tree ❤️ to be honest, most of the people we came across were really friendly!
And maybe if you’re spending the whole weekend moaning about the crowd / whatever… it’s time to accept your fate and join us 30+ heads at the back. Plenty of space, just get your groove on and enjoy yourself. Someone will probably massage your lower back too 🥲
Only real negative from me:
What happened to the Tingelary mushrooms?!
Anyway, we had a brilliant weekend and will definitely be back from the Netherlands next year. Big love 🧡
