Why was someone wearing a swimming nose guard at the club?

I was at a club a few days ago and I was pretty drunk at this point but there was like 2 or 3 men walking around together with these swimming nose guard / nose clips on the outside of their noses? I was wondering if it was something to do with drugs? They didn’t seem like they were doing it for a laugh and if I had asked they seem like the kind of guys that would knock you out lol. Any ideas? I’ve been thinking about this for the last few days and have no idea why they could have been wearing them!
