Bat Capturing

Unanswered

We have had a problem with bats for quite some time. Invested a lot of money into closing out entry points. Thought jt was finally resolved, only to wake up last night and there is a bat in the family room.

So, I have used a few techniques, but the most effective has actually been sucking them into a wet/dry vac. I have a number of extensions so it reaches a good distance, and the noise of the vacuum tends to scare them and make them stationary instead of flying around.

So here is my question - how long do I wait and keep them captured before they die? I know they can’t last longer than 24 hours due to lack of food sources, but will the suction event itself kill it? I want to take it in for rabies testing since we were asleep and can’t know for sure that it never entered a room (although I’m almost positive it did not).
