Unfiled Taxes / Passport

Can you get denied for a first time passport application if you have unfiled taxes?
I have a sudden trip that I need to take out of the country for family and I’m in the middle of getting my taxes caught up.

I read that you’ll only be denied if you owe a specific amount of money and labeled as seriously delinquent. I’m chronically ill so I don’t make a ton of money and I’ve gotten no notices. I need to file back 3 years.
