Advice for HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB – Inthanon 20

Hi everyone. First of all, I hope this is the right subreddit for this post.

I'm looking for advice and opinions from the community ahead of my participation in the Inthanon 20 trail race (20 km with 800 m of elevation gain), which is part of the HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB Major, taking place on November 29th in Chiang Mai.

A bit of background: I'm a 40-year-old male runner from Italy. By the time of the race, I'll have around a year and a half of trail-running experience. I'm already familiar with this kind of distance and elevation gain, as I've completed around ten trail races in Italy with similar characteristics, ranging from 16 to 25 km and 600 to 1,300 m of elevation gain.

I'll arrive in Thailand 15 days before the race.

My main concern is the climate, as I'll be coming from a very different environment. I've never experienced a tropical climate before, but from what I've read, temperatures in late November shouldn't be extremely high, although humidity may still be quite high.

What kind of weather and climate conditions should I expect?

Do you have any advice on acclimatization, as well as hydration and electrolyte intake?

If anyone has experience running on trails in Thailand, or in tropical environments in general, are there any specific hazards or challenges I should be aware of, particularly regarding the terrain and trail conditions?

Thank you very much for any advice, experiences or suggestions that could help me arrive as well prepared as possible for the race.
