Fossil hunting: Where have you done it?

I’m looking for public places to go fossil hunting. The place nearest to me (Mazon Creek, Illinois, USA) requires a permit and doesn’t allow children, so I’m looking for something more accessible for a day outing for amateurs with kids.

One place on my list is Penn Dixie Fossil Park in NY, USA.

Thank you for any suggestions. Can be worldwide.
