I turned the working method I use with Codex into an open-source skill
I use Codex for a lot of longer, multi-step work, and I kept running into the same problem: it would start out aligned and then slowly drift away from the actual job.
I ended up turning the working method I use into an open-source skill called Reasoning Doctrine. It tells the agent to:
- verify facts before making claims
- re-anchor to the objective as the task moves through stages
- scale its reasoning to the actual difficulty
- check both the individual work and the overall outcome before handoff
It’s part of a larger set of governance and review skills, but if you only try one, this is the one I would start with.
I’m the author, and it’s free and open source:

I’d be interested in what it helps with in your Codex workflow—and where it gets in the way.
